Abstract

Poverty rates increased in Peru in 2020. Taking into account the relationship between poverty and vulnerability, this paper seeks to portray how vulnerability has increased in the country. To complete such analysis, ENAHO data for 2018, 2019 and 2020 in health and basic consumption expenditures were observed to analyze the impact of a catastrophic health shock on households. It is shown that the households’ ability to pay was strongly affected due to the drop in income which increases the vulnerability of households
